Renegade, Sry, i missed this post when it came out. I like where you are going with the trumpet on this (nice composition BTW). I do find the trumpet a bit too breathy [just a little] but that is also a matter of taste or subjective. There is also…

Well done Dan-arranging and the alto solo! The alto is one of my faves as well but i do find that certain pieces work better with certain saxes but that just might all be in my head.

Nice stuff! Thanks for sharing! What you say about the SM instruments is so true but it is also true about any acoustic instrument - each a very different personality with a learning curve attached which can be much steeper at the beginning, middl…

Great stuff! - you can never have too much funk! Del

Really nicely done. I especially liked the changes near the end. The reverb really matches the style of the music well but I would be curious how this piece would sound like in a much closer miked situation. With less room sound. Del

Nicely done! SM instruments are great for this kind of thing.

Nice job over all - i preferred the cartoon version for the brass arrangement which i found more interesting in the beginning part. There was a timing glitch or gap/skip or something at about 17 secs in both versions. Getting a piece of music t…

Thanks for sharing this - i really enjoyed it! Some nice orchestration. Del

Interesting feedback in here. I really hope SM does get into strings as it is always nice to have "different" sounding instruments to use - especially for solos. And SM is still the superior VI maker for what they do. I too have the Friedlan…

Kobir - nice job on this. There is nothing better than playing one of these old ballads played on a tenor.

Strange they have not done reviews of SM before now as SM is not just another sampling company. (maybe they have and i just missed them?) I used to subscribe to their magazine years ago and they seemed to be on top of things back then.

Kobir - this is great - interesting harmonies in there. Great song! I saw Canonball Adderley and Joe Zawinal do this in Toronto back in the (70s at the Colonial? i seem to remember) Great stuff - even got to talk to Zawinal in between sets. Del

Well done! The SM brass is a no brainer when choosing which samples to use. I liked the texture and variety of the writing. Del

Thanks for the info Giorgio - Now i really like my Yamaha pedal as the response is so much better than what i was using on my keyboard - smoother with no glitches - so i am assuming it is linear as it works great. Sounds like at least some of …

Kobir Nice job on all your demos here and elsewhere. Sounds like you have tapped into some useful settings that give you good expession but as you know most of it has to come from the player. Kudos to your sister as well!

Tres Nice!! Really liked the slow, quiet part too. Trumpets are great for melodies like this. Moon River is another. (hint) Del

What a simple and elegant review. Makes me want to run out an buy a USB controller! Del

nice job on this! however i am not a huge Kenny G fan but i can appreciate your talent. Sounds like too much vibrato/modulation but maybe that is a matter of taste as well ? Thanks for posting! Del

I would also put in my vote for a solo oboe as it is a more common solo instrument in my opinion. (some may disagree) That being said, solo strings especially the viola would be first priority if possible. Del

Wonderful ! Great sound and tone à la trompette ! Especially liked the last little bit of improv at the end. Parfait ! Del

Congratulations to everyone at SM !! This is a very nice surprise as i thought the FH and Tuba would take a bit longer. The demos sound great BTW. From my experience with the other 7 SM instruments, every new one seems even better when you act…

Thanks for sharing! You have one of those, "to die for" voices! Del

Peter Siedlaczek wrote: Hi Del, very convincing solos, thank you! Did you perform it on your keyboard "simply like that", or was a lot of "tweaking" in the sequencer necessary?.. Thank you for sharing it with us! Peter & Giorgio …

hi you have a great sense of the instruments and how they blend and sound in a big band. I would have thought the trumpet and saxes were the real thing. Del

DAn - Thanks a bunch for your input. I understand your experience with the EWI USB is limited but what you said helps a lot. BEst regards! Del

Dan i listened to a lot of your pieces and you have a lot of really good stuff there. I especially liked Night in Tunisia by Diz, an old fav of mine although I am used to a much faster version- i really liked your slower one too. i play trumpet…

Always a Pleasure to listen to your trumpet pieces. And yes, some saxes would be great too! I think you will really like the new soprano sax for your EWI as it is so similar in size and form. Whenever I use samplemodeling instruments I am alway…

Olav - Really enjoyed your piece - A fine composition! A very convincing trumpet too. Your images also helped to add realism to the trumpet and organ. Not that the SM trumpet needs it. All that said, I wish people would just listen to the music and …
