    I wonder how it would sound if The Trumpet were recorded completely dry, or with early reflections only.

    Here's My Heart Belongs to Daddy by Cole Porter that I play with the Sample Modeling Tenor Sax with my friend Don Jacobs on clarinet.



    It's a single unedited take with either the EWI-4000s or the EWI-USB -I don't remember which.

    Nice stuff!



    I want to ditto your take on the SD2 sound module &

    double ditto on Samplemodeling's products, especially for exposed solo work.



    I just bought a software arranger that provides the missing external control for the SD2 unit. It is called vArranger & was developed by a musician/programmer in France, also named Dan.



    One of the reasons I bought it is it will play many of the

    Ketron & Yamaha (including the Tyros 4) styles. He is also working on an Export to MIDI module for the program.



    I know this is the Samplemodeling website but I think that the vArranger can provide yet another resource for creating pro-sounding back-up tracks.



    Guys like you & I can solo Samplemodeling's products, or live acoustical instruments, on top of these tracks with very satisfying results as you have demonstrated.



    I'm not affiliated with vArranger or Dan in any way, I just thought other Samplemodeling owners might want to be aware of it's existence.

    i listened to a lot of your pieces and you have a lot of really good stuff there. I especially liked Night in Tunisia by Diz, an old fav of mine although I am used to a much faster version- i really liked your slower one too. i play trumpet and your trumpet work sounds good - phrasing etc. The clarinet player is not too shabby either.



    Which is the better instrument - EWI USB or the 4000? Can you use the trumpet with 3 keys on the USB version? Seems to be a big price difference-trying to decide.

    Sorry for the very late reply. I don't check these forums as often as I should. Thanks for your kind words.



    I'm not sure I'm the best person to give you an answer about which of the EWI would be best for playing trumpet with the brass fingering. Unfortunately I never played a trumpet so I don't know the piston fingerings at all. A friend of mine tried it with the EWI-USB and it seemed to work pretty well for him. However, the brass fingering is not as straightforward as I expected. In fact you have need to use more than just 3 keys. My friend only played with the EWI-USB for about an hour or two, so as you would expect he was not able to play much at a normal speed since there is a bit of new fingering to master.



    There are mainly two reasons for choosing one of the EWI over the other.



    1. EWI-USB must be connected to a computer or a special Sample Player device, whereas because the EWI-4000s has a midi output, it will play with any synth module and is therefore more portable. Of course if you play software a sampled synth, like samplemodeling, you will need a computer (or something like the Muse Receptor 2 -very expensive).



    2. EWI-4000s has 8 octave keys vs 4 on the EWI-USB



    Of course a huge difference is the price. If you are going to be using a computer because you will be playing samplemodeling stuff, the EWI-USB probably makes good sense since it is so much more affordable.



    However it would be good to get the opinion of someone who uses the brass fingering on the EWI's.

    Just in case it is not clear. I have lots of experience with EWI-USB. However I have not had much experience with the Brass fingering on EWI-USB or EWI-4000s -since I don't play a real trumpet.



    I like both EWI's very much -each has it's Pro's and Con's.



    Thanks for the vArranger info. I'm just now going to check it out.



    Just did - 349 Euros! Ouch! Not a likely purchase for me I'm afraid. I'd rather save my money for more samplemodeling sounds : )

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph.
