  • it's again an exceptional library. Although we get used to the perfection of Samplemodeling, every new instrument is more than just an addition.
  • that's true. A laptop is primarily not made for music production, one has to manage quite a few things to get it stable. 9 USB devices is rather much, but it works stable if one doesn't make unnecessary changes. I have two mobile systems that work t…
  • thanks for answering. So there are mutes as well in the T-bone. Glad to hear.
  • excellent. Just as I expect from Samplemodeling. How did he play it? With keyboard, with windcontroller, or with both? And it was all trombone, no trumpet?
  • great work! I find it good to play, note changes are realistic, and the dynamics are surprisingly well done. It seems that there is something behind that AET, if the sample recordings and the programming are well done. Thank you very much for t…
  • the limited note range is defined by the instrument itself. I never transpose the EWI4000s or inside the DAW, I play each Samplemodeling instrument as it comes. With windcontroller settings of course, like Pat suggested. To extend the note rang…
  • I would say the Audiophile from M-Audio will be a good choice. M-Audio recently released a stable driver for Windows 7 (both 32 and 64 bit), which I could test myself with my Firewire Audiophile (similar card, but via firewire). So it should run fin…
  • it can be confusing, I agree. :P internal cards are good for what they are meant to. For your purposes an external card is a must. Be it firewire or USB2, doesn't really matter. It just has to be ASIO and with MIDI, which are most cards from E…
  • sorry to say, but the in-built audio card will not have ASIO drivers, it will be similar to the one in your laptop. Only with an ASIO card you will have low latencies, be it laptop or desktop. Especially for live playing such a card is essential. …

  • oh yes, I'm looking forward to hear about it!
  • it's like Vista, no problem at all. What could cause problems are hardware drivers. Me for example have to unplug the AlphaTrack before shutting down W7, because it would give a bluescreen, and the audio interface (NI AK1) has hiccups, but in Vista …
  • I welcome very much this decision.
  • you are of course right. What I was trying to say with the strings was that I make some differences among instruments. If there was a 'MIDI bow&string controller' which would give me the expression possibilities of a violoncello, I would certain…

  • chrisboy2000 wrote: Everybody needs strings and nobody else need bagpipes... that's true, I'm probably the only one. But don't forget that these old reed instruments are the predecessors of our modern clarinets, saxophones, etc. Of course ba…
  • the day when the last customer is satisfied arrives when every possible and impossible instrument is done by Samplemodeling. I need bagpipes, and no strings, while others need strings and not bagpipes.
  • Kontakt4 is out now, but the AET (Authentic Expression Technology) examples that are demonstrated at the NI webpage are not very convincing. I ordered K4 because I need a full sampler anyway, and maybe it makes some multilayered reed sample librarie…
  • several trombones? Wow, I'm very glad to hear that. Surely will buy them. For the soprano sax, I don't care much, the already existing saxes are enough for me.
  • zeppusclub wrote: Hi, This depend of what you play ... On jazz standard, i like to change of instrument in a tune and make saxophone answer to the trumpet yes, that's what I like too.
  • glad to hear that. I knew that the Italians do it better.
  • just read about Kontakt 4: AET is able to capture specific spectral characteristics of samples and gradually apply them to another samples in real-time, allowing you to seamlessly “morph” between different instruments' characteristics. This br…
  • when you play live, you only play one instrument at a time and there is no other MIDI data or automation coming in. Although the manual states otherwise, I would try to load all needed instruments into one single Kontakt Player in stand-alone. Unt…
  • I asked myself the same question, but since the current version works fine (even in Kontakt Player 3.5), I don't see the need for an update. Did you have any issues?
  • well it could be a setup related issue, not a user related issue. Some things simply do not work on certain systems, but loading each instrument with a separate Kontakt player should solve it I guess. Good to hear that this won't affect the perfor…
  • it appears that it depends on the setup of the studio, especially the MIDI setup. I play Samplemodeling instruments with a EWI that goes through a FCB1010 foot controller. Lots of CC's are being used simultaneously. Loading all saxes and the trumpet…
  • it's been a while since I last checked the specifications, and then it was much too slow for Samplemodeling Vsti's. But I will probably buy a later, faster v-machine. I find this a very good idea.
  • well, internal cards are not recommended anyway. To get most out of any virtual instrument, one should get an external card I believe. And I also believe that 96 kHz is good for the saxes, the libraries can played back at 88.2 like this.
