the sample rate depends on the audio card only. If the card has the option of 88.2 kHz, it will work on any multicore computer. If the card is for Samplemodeling only, there is no need for an expensive card with high-end microphone inputs and conv…

you can chain the fcb1010 and the WX7, and assign one pedal to growl, and the other to flutter for example. Like this you have one MIDI input free in your interface. I know the programming of the fcb1010 might be a bit tricky, especially for beginne…

as far as I know, all calculations of the VSTi are done in the CPU. From my experience, 1.8 GHz is at the edge. It may play one instrument well, but not more than one. Loading only one instrument, recording, rendering to audio, then adding the secon…

Mick Emery wrote: Hi Phil, I can pick 44.1, 48, 88.1 or 96. After that is chosen, I have no option of choosing a "sample size". (256, 512 etc.) only ms latency. (1-25 ms) in that case everything is fine. The "buffer size" (256, 512, etc.) a…

Mick Emery wrote: I can set the Firepod to 88.2 (it doesn't show sample rates... only ms latency) how do you set it to 88.2 kHz, if it doesn't show the number? Does the card support this sample rate? Some (older) audio cards support only 4…

I also share your enthusiasm. I bought a windcontroller without knowing that there aren't good sample players around. Samplemodeling filled the gap, and that is just what I needed.

no problems with the FCB1010. Very good pedals. With one exception: I had to disassemble the 230 V transformer from the device, it hummed loud. Outside the device it can vibrate as much as it wants, there's no resonance anymore in the FCB1010 h…

thank you very much, webbiedave. I was also sidetracked of some sort and wasn't able to reply. For the moment I leave this "enhanced MIDI controller" project, the EWI 4000s with its MIDI limitations is still enough responsive for my talent. Lik…

PhilipRees has one or you can use MIDIOX with a second computer and MIDI interface. Another idea is to filter your incoming MIDI data and change channels in your Synthophone.

I was also thinking about a second Tenor Sax, but after recording track after track with only one (Mr.Sax T), I found that it sounds surprisingly satisfying (following the advices Peter was giving). With future saxes (sopran, bariton, alto) it will …

well this is the least I can do after all the precious information you contributed to this forum. Glad it worked.

dear bobhunt, I use multiple instances of SampleModeling instruments exactly how you describe it. It works well. I switch the MIDI-channel via a MIDI-interface of a different computer. Maybe you should check the output of your Synthophone, if t…

Kontakt2 gives the possibility to map any CC to any knob in the GUI. It's in the 'Auto' tab.

probably you're sending Controller 64 or sustain pedal messages. EDIT: in case you don't know it, there's a handy little MIDI message display called Midi checker: http://www.keypiano.com/download.php?id=8

thank you for the hint. I'm not familiar enough to deal with microelectronics, but I know a good shop, they can do such things for me.

- Windcontroller mode on - Vel. to Dynamics 0 - Dynamic Pitch 78 (varying, but I like it over 70) - Attack Pitch Mod. 45 - Transition Flutter 68 and about CV and converting this voltage into digital data: most interesting what you do…

I would expect single products and bundles, and coupons, like normal.

thank you very much for your detailed description. I was hesitating to ask, I appreciate that very much that you share your secrets. I'm even risking my life for this. So you are not modifying the Steiner with MIDI-controllers (like those here …

I just read in the news that the sax family will be completed. This is exactly what I wished, and also the "new approaches to ensembles".

indeed, thank you Webbiedave. When I first played the Trumpet, I was impressed how "forgiving" it is if the player is not a professional musician. Obviously those 1/2-valve transitions or some other advanced programming make this possible. …

webbiedave wrote: Regarding scooping up to a note, it is unfortunate that there is no way to have the pitchbend use the 1/2-valve sound, as this is how I tend to do it as a jazz trumpeter. - David Can you describe a bit what a 1/2-valve sound…

You are right about the long vibrato, that is something rather difficult to achieve with the EWI. I usually end the note after a second of vibrato to "save" the note, otherwise it would tend to sound unnatural. Also, the pitch bend plate I don'…

to decrease latency with internal sound cards, there is a software called ASIO4ALL. I don't know if it's for Windows only, maybe there are some other ASIO emulators. I don't know Mac, but I think it is absolutely necessary to use an external so…

thank you valouz for your warning, and thank you pablomariana for your description. You seem to do what I am planning to do. Very well. Yes, Behringer is definitely not the first choice for reliable hardware. I will read some more reviews on th…

in Kontakt, I have to enable windcontroller mode, and under controller3 tab, set CC25 to zero. Then it's ready to play with the EWI, and can be saved. Vibrato: 1. dynamic air flow 2. biting the mouthpiece 3. pressing the right thumb to…

thank you for your report, David. It is really impressive what you can do with a laptop. I find it interesting especially live, when the audience can see that there is someone playing a keyboard, but out comes the sound of a trumpet or sax. The same…

it seems that the M-audio interface has a faster data rate or simply the better driver than the Edirol. I'm just wondering: is your CPU single or dual?

I understand now. Sure it would be nice to add growl with the voice, but I think we have to wait until Akai 7000 comes out with a built in microphone that works as additional control input. Nice idea though, technically possible. For now we mus…

I also think it must be some background service that is the culprit. With your DAW, you should be able to play nicely with 128k or even 64k buffer. I don't know Mac, so I can't say more. Hope you find the solution soon.
