System/Soundcard advice please.

Hi, new to the list and eagerly awaiting the sax.



Sorry but could anyone clarify if my system is enough and should I get a seperate sound card and any suggestions to a cheap but sufficient card?



I have a Dell 1.83GHZ Core 2 Duo, 3GB Ram 250GB hard drive. It also has an express card reader. I don't know the soundcard but its driven by sigmaTel high definition audio codec and I have asio installed.

Your computer is certainly suitable for The Trumpet. As to the audio card, I got satisfactory results even when an Audigy. An M-Audio Fast Track Pro could be an option (I've been using it as well).

Thanks for the reply, but could you please clarify, will it also be suitable for the sax?



I found the m-audio, but which Audigy would be suitable? There appears to be several.



By the way I need sax (sounds fantastic) but if I'm happy I'll also get the trumpet (which also sounds fantastic) later, when its more suited to a windcontoller.

The CPU load of Mr. Sax T. is comparable to that of The Trumpet. So I don't expect any problem there.



The sax can work at several different sampling rates, namely 44100, 48000, 88200 and 96000 Hz, so that all Soundblaster cards, including the Creative SB Audigy [8880] that I personally tested, all working at 48 KHz will do. However, due to the particular engine employed in the sax, best rendering is obtained at 88200 Hz. In this respect, the choice of an audio card supporting this sampling rate, as for example the M-Audio would be preferable.

Thanks Giorgio for taking the time to answer. I think I'll go with the M-Audio, unless someone knows something with the optimum sample rate, as good but cheaper

my guess is that this applies only to the sax, not to the trumpet. Is that correct?
