Hi all

I tried to Big Band orchestra:



"Moanin"



1 Trpt

1 Trombone

1 Alto Sax

1 Tenor Sax

1 Baritone

(sorry but I'm not a Drummer!!!)



.... what do you think? ....

Great !



It is known that it's not exactly easy to create a good ensemble sound with multiple NI "Solo" instruments. But this one does sound great.



Some personal criticism:



The stereo spreading is unnaturally wide for an ensemble listened to from the public's place. It sounds like standing within the ensemble. You might want to try "space360" (free VST) to position the instruments in a room.



To me the vibrato sound rather unnatural. Maybe it's just too much or some modulation of the vibrato frequency might help.

This depends on the environment you are working in (DAW, way of data entry, ...)



IMHO, versatile wind instruments like SM's are best input via a breath controller. Depending on the DAW, You can record "live" breath controller values (e.g. blowing -> expression and Bite force -> Vibrato depth, the new TEC BBC even allows to rfecord head nod and tilt.) while note playback.

Sorry I only have the SWAM "Flutes", So I don't know.



I once used the TEC Bite to control Vibrato depth. That is easy to do.



But after some more thinking, trying and programming, I now use the keyboard aftertouch for vibrato and the bite for "Style".
