Current Kontakt recommendations-still as XP days?
RUNNING:WIN 7, i7, CUBASE 7.5, KONTAKT 5, EP5, RME 400, CME UF8, TEC
If I understand this correctly from reading through all of the forum messages going back to the beginning of Sample Modelling, back to the days of XP and Kontakt around its 3.5 version the developers always reccommended loading one Sam Mod instrument per one Kontakt instance. Does this still apply given the increase in size and development strides available now in Kontakt 5, & in the sequencing engines we run in now.
For myself, and at the beginning of the time of the one for one recommendations I was running "The Trumpet" in an XP-4 GB, Kontakt 2 to 3.5- Sonar to 4 thru operation.
But I now play all the Sam Mod instruments in a custom system running 92 GB at 64 bit, operating at 32-24 in the above mentioned Win 7, Cubase 7.5, pre purged Kontakt 5, Ensemble Pro 5 system. I run 6 2TB hard drives, all under 40%, one of these 2 TB drives dedicated to Kontakt instruments only.
I use 128 as a buffer in this computer to run 300 & more tracks in real time at about 35 GB with CPU hitting approx 25-45% without a glitch (unless I screw something up).
So does the one instrument per Kontakt instance still apply to this kind of system?
If so, for me, in my Big Band Templt I run 13 Sam Mod solo horns. But with seperate Kontakt instances for everyone of these 13 horns mutes and doubles, this takes up 38 of the 64 available racks in Cubase.
So if this is still the recommended way to run the Sample Modelling instruments , would a doable workaround be running Kontakt as 16 instances into one instance of Ensemble Pro 5?
Thanks for any input!
