Unable to grasp the basic concept of controlling this instru

edited September 2008 in General Questions
OK, so I'm working in logic 8.

I have two notes, both quarter notes and between them I want to place the controller key switch C# which is Cresc.

If I go to the midi piano roll editor and insert the note c# right before the second note it has not effect. It will not create a Cresc. on the 2nd note.

HOWEVER...

If I put Logic into cycle record mode and RECORD the C# then I get the effect I want BUT when I go find the C# in the midi piano roll editor NOTHING IS THERE????

Where is the midi message that tells the Trumpet to play the 2nd note with Cresc???

How can I insert KS data using the midi editor and have it work???? Or do I have to play everything in real time. And if I play everything in real time and it doesn't show up in the midi editor how can I edit it????

I tried to find the data in the midi controller area but I can't find anything that corresponds to the C# that I recorded.

I think I'm missing something really basic here and am totally confused.

Thanks for any help

I'm still on logic 5.5, so... first thing I'd make sure is you are writing the right octave c#. Secondly I'd look that the written c# has the same midi channel as the track

it may be that you're looking at the old track while you've recorded a new one... when you set logic in record mode it creates a new track, so you have to select and glue the old and new tracks in order to see the c# in the piano roll... just my two cents

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
