Question re. Expression curves

Hi,

I see how setting the low/high CC values maps CC values, using a linear function.



However, when I choose "ln 0.4" for the Expression curve, I am not sure what it's doing (beyond assuming it's some natural log, and that I like it best for the Viola w/WX-5).



Does someone know what is the actual function that Swam-S uses when I specify "ln <num>", or "exp <num>"?

In the SWAM instruments, the Expression remapping curve is a mix between a linear mapping and an exponential-like curve.

The "log" text is maybe misleading; we have formerly used the text "log" referring to some Expression pedals which are "logarithmic".

For this reason, in the Viola we have changed the text to "exp", anyway the remapping curve is identical to the one used in the Woodwinds. In the next updates of the Woodwinds we will change this label as in the Viola.



When the slider is set to "Lin 0", the mapping between the Input Expression and the effective Expression reaching the engine is absolutely linear (no remapping).

When the slider is set to "Exp/Log 1", the mapping is exponential-like (i.e. input=50 -> output=5.7; input = 100 -> output = 44.6)

When the slider is between 0 and 1, there is a linear mix between the two curves. You can see the actual graph in the attached picture.
