MDT with The Trombone

edited August 2010 in Windcontrollers
A blessing and a curse with the magic "Wind Controller" button is that there's not much tinkering that I appear to be able to do under the hood via Kontact Player 4. The trombone sound via my Morrison Digital Trumpet is spot on, but the glissando does not work via the pitch bend levers on the MDT. I get a stepwise increase in tone, or no change at all. The MDT is quite configurable... is there a CC that I should map to the up and down levers (rather than pitch bend) to get a better glissando?

My Yamaha WX-5 nails the glissando beautifully, but The Trumpet and my Gofriller cello do so nicely with the MDT that I hate to do all the swapping back and forth that is required to move from one controller to the other.

Thanks,

Pat

Just got the Trombone myself and love the sound and responsiveness, great job! I've had the MDT a couple of months and I'm getting used to it, but love playing it live (as a former trumpet player for many years). What I like about it is that it is really responsive to breath control - and it's does take some practice. Bring in that human element. That leads to the glissando. Pat, I don't know if you have reconfigured your MDT thumb levers, but I've kept the lower one for pitch bend and have set the upper one for growl. So far I like it. My trombone glissando works fine, IF I control it with my blowing. It's tricky - you have to lower the breath velocity during the glissando. I've set the pitch sensitivity to 175 and that sets the glissando range to a fourth. I'm still experimenting.

I'd like to see the MDT get a little more "love" from the developers. The Trumpet & Trombone work great with it.
