re-install???

edited April 2009 in General Questions
Hi I will be reformatting my laptop to put a clean install of Vista, maybe even XP, is there anything I need to be careful of?

I know I had to register the Kontakt player, will I have to do so again?

I'd hate to lose my samplemodelling software with a stupid mistake

Regards Pete.

    Hi Pete,

never be afraid of losing our software. You´ve purchased the right to use it - this right cannot be deleted! :-)

However, please consider that a new operating system creates a new computer ID. The new one will not correspond to the authorisation key (you received from Native Instruments) any more - the grace period of 14 days will be entered again. In this case it will be necessary to deactivate the "old" authorisation and to create a new one. To find out how to do it in detail please contact the registration hotline of Native Instruments.

Thanks :D But just to be clear, if I do a clean install of the same Vista on the same laptop (not XP), will I still have to "deactivate" and get new "authorisation"?

I consulted the Native Instruments registration hotline. They say if you install exactly the same, original operating system, no new system ID ("finger print") should be generated. Therefore it should be enough to run simply the Service Center to activate the software once again - normally a matter of seconds. The activation will use the existing authorisation code.
