Host for VST

edited January 2009 in General Questions
For what it's worth, I tried out Reaper for a VST host. At first i could only get the DXI to work, but eventually after reading the manual (doh! ) the VST was loaded . I think the VST eats up less resources. At any rate this is totally new ground for me so I am just stumbling through but it seems the Reaper works quite well. The stand-alone player is fine but eventually i want to be able to select which instances are to be played. I am also working on a recording and using a DAW with a host is the only way I could figure out how to do the recording process with a backing track. I have an old version of Sonar producer and didn't have good results. I understand PG musics Power Tracks Pro may incorporate VST's but I don't think it can do that yet.

At any rate you can try out Reaper for free, and if you like it a non-commercial liscense is only $50.00. The documentation is good and they do have a user forum. Just do a Google of Reaper and you will find it.
