Cuica
When playing around with the Cello, i checked out the "Bowing" mode using the expression wheel on the keyboard.
Here I got the impression that the physical model (with appropriate parameters) would be very well suited to do a virtual Cuica (Brazilian percussion instrument ->
), an instrument I indeed would like to use in my Latin band.
Here, the sound would be activated by moving the expression wheel (or better the pitch bend wheel for better resolution) as a "virtual rod", while some keys would be the virtual drum head:
off -> free -> low octave
C/D/E/F/G -> finger position rim to mid -> creating appropriate harmonic behavior
aftertouch -> finger pressure -> affecting the pitch
I don't suppose it's possible to sell such a "single percussion instrument" software for a decent price, but it would be a great demo of what SWAM is able to do, and a lot of fun.
