Wind controller and FCB1010
Hi
Really enjoying the Trumpet, Mr Sax T also but this will be better when we can get rid of the portamento entirely.
My question is.
I use an Akai EWI 4000 and an FCB1010 foot controller. Is it possible to play in wind controller mode and still add in some of the extra key switches by setting them on the FCB as a note event and merging the midi from the EWI and the pedal?
I have tried but don't seem to get any changes.
Regards.

I think you can achieve very good results with your foot controller. You write you couldn´t get any changes using the note-on function of the foot switches. With which instrument did you test it? Please note that Mr. Sax doesn´t use any key switches...
As far as The Trumpet is concerned, you should be perfectly able to apply the foot switches as key switches. I´m not a FCB1010 expert, but please make sure that the unit properly merges the MIDI data from your wind controller, and that you send the right note-on commands: they must be also in the right octave! (from C0 to D1, where the middle C is C3).
Since FCB 1010 has also two pedals, you can perfectly use at least one of them for CC5, which controlls the portamento time. I can imagine that you can reach a great flexibility with this unit. If you still experience difficulties, I´m afraid you have to refer to the FCB1010 support. But there shouldn´t be any problems on our side (still - please consider that the sax uses no keyswitches).

The problem was the midi note numbers. I found inconstant information on the net about midi note numbers.
The lowest C1 in your key-switch chart works out to be note number 36 on the FCB1010.
Now getting really good results.
Unfortunately I can't get the second level KS because the FCB won't let you send out two notes simultaneously. Still, I'm happy.
Many thanks.

I've got the FCB1010 as well and I've a hassle with it because it apparently will not send a note off message. (All the note ones kind of hang out in Sonar and cause quite a snarl
