Pitchbend

edited December 2008 in General Questions
I've installed Mr Sax T and everything is running smoothly except for the pitchbend. I've tried it with 2 different controllers and it bends down but not up. Also the sound deteriarates when bending down.

Thanks,

Tony

    Hi Tony,

Did you read the pdf manual?

There it's pointed out (twice, I think) that in keeping with the goal of realism, Mr. Sax, lika a real sax, will bend down but very little up.

    Tony,

The pitchbend works exactly as it should. Please cfr. http://www.geocities.com/sax411/sax/technique/bending.html :

    "What is note bending?

Also called lip slurs, scoops, and "dwee notes", bended notes are notes that are purposely flattened in pitch and then brought up to the right pitch."

And the sound does not "deteriorate", but follows the timbral changes which are characteristic of a saxophone pitchbend.

Also, have a look at this brief lesson, focused on how to carry out a pitchbend with the sax:

    Thanks Stefano,

I have to say I've played with many wonderful sax players and I hear them bend the notes up, it sounds like their squeezing the reed. So then my controller is doing as it should by bending down and hardly at all up. That's all I needed to know.

    Thanks,

    Tony
