Trumpet Sluggish

edited March 2015 in Windcontrollers
I have Samplemodling trumpets and haven't been very happy with the functionality. I have tried many settings that I have gleaned from this forum.

I can't get the same responsiveness as the youtube and demo videos demonstrate. The trumpet is too sluggish.

I have similar experience with the Samplemodeling Trombone and Frenchhorn/Tubas. I don't have sluggishness problems with any other non-Samplemodeling Kontakt-based instruments.

Does anyone have any experience / guidance for best setup with a wind controller ?

I have both Mac and Windows laptops setup and have the same experience.

thanks

Tim

What do you mean by "sluggish" ? IS it some latency problem, or the trumpet doing portamentos all the time, without any strong attacks ?

Don't worry, if it doesn't work like in the demos, it means something is wrong and can be fixed!

Possibly if by sluggishness you mean a delay (latency problem) in responsiveness, it may be caused by your digital audio interface hardware and or driver.

My experience with Windows computers is that built in sound cards often don't work all that well perhaps partly because of the lack of good ASIO drivers.

With laptops you almost certainly need to have an external Digital Audio Interface, connected via USB and or maybe Firewire.

Some people find this driver to be helpful if your hardware does not provide its own ASIO driver.

But I'm just speculating without having enough information from you.

Let us know in detail what equipment you are using, including which wind controller.

Is there really any equipment that does not come with an ASIO driver and has fast enough hardware to be useful for decent live playing enabled by ASIO4ALL ?
