Problems with Kontakt 5.4.1

Dear customers,

the newest Kontakt version 5.4.1 has apparently a bug which, for unknown reasons, leads to a 30 or 50 cent pitch shift of our Trumpet v. 2.52 on some systems (most of the systems, however, seem to work properly).

This is not a Trumpet bug and, of course, we will contact Native Instruments first thing tomorrow morning. Untill NI fixes the bug we suggest to compensate the tuning using the Tune knob or, better, not to update to Kontakt version 5.4.1 yet.

We hope that NI will fix it soon.

Peter

    Dear Peter,

Luckily this NI bug only applies to the Trumpet and especially to version 2.52. As in..., the Trombone v3.0 is not affected!

Wouldn't it be fantastic SampleModeling provided an alternative solution by releasing the long-promised (and awaited) Trumpet v3.0 before NI released their next update?

Or at least, say... before the end of this year?

    Cheers
  • Hi ondomaler,

as you certainly know, software developement and, first of all, investigation and research are unpredictable as far as the time investment is concerned. After all, one pursues a perfect, bug-free version... Any estimation of a release date could be misunderstood as an announcement. But we are optimistic... :-)

Still, even with the new version of The Trumpet we will not be immune against potential compatibility issues of future Kontakt releases... Our suggestion: if possible, not to jump to the newest updates, if they are just a few days old... :-)

Now the good news: Native Instruments identified the bug and will try to fix it as soon as possible. They recommend to re-install the Kontakt version 5.3.1 using their Update Manager

Let´s hope the bug-free version 5.4.1 will come soon!

    Thanks Peter,

You know,... customers..., they keep on asking , at least in order to keep things high on your agenda by showing the persistence of their enthusiasm.

It's good to hear that you are optimistic about Trumpet v3.0.

    Dear Peter,

    Thanks for your care!

I've noticed tuning issues today with the SM Tuba. The Eb (concert pitch) is way off.

    Hi,

I was going insane with an out of tune trumpet until I found this thread!

Same story, saxes are in tune, the trumpet is out after Kontakt upgrade. I was recallibrating the EWI 4000s over and over until I saw this discussion.

Any news on the fix yet or will I have to wind back the Kontakt version?

    Cheers - Mike.
  • Hi Irmikeb,

we know probably as much as you do, namely nothing... There is apparently a new beta version in test, but - since we are not involved in Kontakt developement - no other details are known. We, by the way, cannot reproduce this problem on our systems; all the instruments have proper tuning.

We would like to strongly encourage all of you to contact Native Instrument and complain... Let´s hope that the new Kontakt version will be released soon. Fortunately the remedy - compensating the tuning using the Tune knob in Kontakt - is an easy-to-do workaround.

    Thank you.

BTW.: Will there be a SWAM Trumpet one day, or does this not make sense ?

    Thanks Peter,

I'll give the tuning in Kontakt a go for now.

Will feedback to NI as you say.

    Mike.

NI seems to have a new Kontakt update that claims to fix the SM issues of version 5.4.1.

    Is it safe?

I downloaded the latest update of Kontakt Player, the version 5.4.2.245 and this update solved the, out of tune problem, on "The Trumpet".

I have: "The Trumpet", "The trombone" and "French Horn & Tuba (Kontakt platform) and they all behave perfectly with this new version of Kontakt Player.
