iPad

Has anyone tried using Sample Modeling products with Garage Band on the latest models of iPad? I might buy an iPad, and if I could play even single instances of SM instruments, it seems likely that I could hook an EWI to it and get very mobile...

There is no support for regular VSTi on iPad. A few apps support special iPad plugins versions, but most virtual instruments on iOS are standalone apps (e.g. Sampletank, iGrand etc.) or built into the mobile DAW.

Technically, newer iPads and iPhones have the processing power and memory to be able to handle decent virtual instruments and the mobility advantage is huge. There are many good iOS synths, but nothing that can emulate real wind instruments close to Sample Modeling.

I think if sample modeling would release some of their popular instruments as iOS apps it would be a huge success.
