Problem with Trumpet 3 note off

edited November 2017 in General Questions
Hello,

I recently bought Trumpet 3 and Trombone 3. They are great! But...

I experience a strange and very annoying problem with the Trumpet, that blocks my work completely:

If I stop the playback in the middle of a suspended tone, it continues to sound.

The only way to stop it is with some kind of an "all notes off" command. And after interrupting it like this, when I press a key, even only for a bref moment, the tone again doesn't stop. The strangeness of the problems comes from the fact, that I don't experience any of those issues with the Trombone and, as far as I understand it, they are like brothers...

I tried the fallowing configurations in order to be sure that this is not a host software problem:

Trumpet 3 loaded in:

- Samplitude Pro X Suite

- Finale 25

- Vienna ensemble PRO (in turn loaded in one of the above softwares)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I on the contrary sometimes have the problem that seemingly a note-on is not acknowlaged. When playing this tone is not generated. When releasing the blow-pressure with the breath controller and then increasing it, no tone is generated, so it seems to be a missing note-on.

Supposedly a Wind controller user will not see this, as same creates a note-off / note on when stopping and then starting to blow.

I never have this problem with the SWAM Flute.

Well, in cases like ours (and, actually in any case of virtual instrument related problem)

one reaches a point of a long sigh and saying "MIDI works in mysterious ways"... :D

    Hi, everyone!

If you've experienced my problem here is the solution (Thank you Michael Jones from

    Samplemodeling customer support!):

On page 6 of the user manual, there is an option described for accepting all notes off.

(It is addressed to Sonar user, but in my case (Samplitude and Finale) worked as well):

"Tip: Some users might experience hanging notes upon stopping the playback. This is

due to the fact that Sonar sends an “All-Notes-Off” command when the Stop button is

pressed. The problem can be easily solved by checking the box “Accept all notes off/

all sounds off” under “Instrument Options -> Controller”, as shown below."

    Enjoy your SM instruments! :)
  • Thanks, vesidrag :-)
