French Horn and Tuba

edited April 2014 in Windcontrollers
The new French Horn and Tuba are absolutely wonderful for EWI wind controllers.

The French Horns have a gorgeous, silky sound when played softly with low breath volume and gentle attack, but produce fantastic harmonic rich strident tones with strong attacks and higher air pressure.

The Tuba is also excellent with superb responsiveness and dynamic range.

They both work beautifully right out of the box as soon as you choose the Wind Controller in place of Keyboard.

The French Horn has an especially excellent legato performance and as I've said before, a gorgeous silky smooth sound. When I sit down to play, I can barely stop and go back to work on other things.

It is all I could have asked for and I recommend it without reservations.

Thanks,

Dan

Sure, I'll be the annoying guy to ressurecta year-and-a-half old thread! I'm loving the Yamana WX5 with SM horns and tuba. My one question about these instruments is, what's the best way to use portamento with these instruments? Thanks for any advice!

Simplest way is to map portamento to CC 17 or CC 16, which can be mapped to mod wheel down or up.

Thanks Kobir, so I can map the controller so that the modwheel responds to reed pressure, which would allow me to control portamento using bite. That seems like the most natural way while playing since I don't like using too many buttons and sliders while playing. It starts to drain some of the passionate energy from the performance IMO. I lose pitch variation that way but that might not be too big a deal. Thanks!
