Any iOS plans?

I can imagine somewhat cut-down versions of your instruments sounding amazing using the iPhone mic as a breath controller, like the Wallander instruments apps which sound ok but aren't really at a professional standard.

Still, I can see it gets complicated if you want to attach a MIDI keyboard and run sound out of it (for live performance)....

I used to think the IOS hardware is not capable enough, but after playing with iGrand Piano on my iPad connected to my digital piano, I realized the iPad is actually capable of running hi quality professional sampled instrument as complex as a grand piano.

I think the ROI on development will be high, since professional music apps on IOS are doing very well.

Samplemodeling SWAM instrument on IOS will be an amazing product and I do hope one day that dream will come true...

You can use Apple's USB Camera Adapter to connect your USB midi instruments to your iOS devices.

Handheld devices may become alternative to some hardware synthesizers years later. :)

The future is here. There are already professional musicians using iPads with Sampletank, iGrand, beatmaker, DM1 drum machine, NanoStudio, Reactable and many more synths and sample apps in recordings and live gigs.

I believe it is just a matter of time until tablets will completely replace laptops for gigging musicians.

When I mentioned it possiy being complicated to implement I was thinking about the problem of how you can have audio out as well as a MIDI keyboard AND breath controller.

However, you could use a headset mic which cools map blowing noise intensity to expression volume. This could then be attached via iRig which has both audio in and out and connects to the earphone input. Them the 30-pin or lightning connector is free to connect the MIDI keyboard via a camera connection kit.

    So... It's doable!

Using midi and quality audio out at the same time is not an issue if you use USB external sound card. Some have features specifically to support IOS such as this one:
