Feature request "Mimick"

edited January 2013 in General Questions
Hi samplemodeling !

i was wondering a little bit on how to create easily some "kinda synced" vibratos, like what players tend to naturally do (I suppose) in sections. It's actually pretty hard to do, with only a "speed" controller.

But since your horns have a unison patch, i suppose you sorted that out for yourself.

To allow us to us it easily, i think one cool feature would be to allow instruments to "mimick" what we send them instead of playing it precisely. especially for vibrato speed (the reste is not so important). That would be a great way to "control" that the "pulses" of the vibrato are trying to be in sync, while not being perfectly.

Because i must say that setting precisely vibrato speed for ensembles is not so funny, nor musically rewarding ^^

If ensembles are never in sync at all, my idea is useless, but i suppose most of the time, they are (or at least, try to be)

Thx

In my experience as a sax player, vibrato is done individually, not in sync, doing so would in most cases provide a comical effect.

But if you want to gain complete control over the vibrato, it is not more than scripted pitch modulation. When you play the instruments with an EWI you really "play" the vibrato using lip pressure to control the pitch bend. You can easily set any other controller, like aftertouch, to control this.
