Trombone Portamento
Hi.
I was wondering something about trombone settings in Windcontroller mode.
If u watch the trombone video demo, u can see a portamento phrase, between 0:35 and 0:45.
I downloaded the midi file tutorial of this video and i noticed something. this Phrase sounds like the video if the windcontroller mode is disable. and the portamento effect is due to the low velocities of the notes.
But when the wind controller mode is engaged, the sound doesn't react the same at all, and u loose this realistic portamento effect, which i can't get with the EWI USB (out of using the pitch bend but this won't sound the same)
even if I edit my velocities after... it still won't sound the same...
Any idea to have the same velocity->portamento effect in windcontroller mode ?
Thx
Regards.
Sylvain

As explained in the Trombone manual, switching to Windcontroller mode gives control of portamento time to CC#5 instead of velocity.
This can be easily checked by clicking on "portamento time time" in the drop-down menu.
It reads: "Portamento Time controlled by velocity (0%), CC#5 (100%)." One may still vary the relative amounts, restoring even full control of portamento time to velocity. Please note, however, that this might be impractical when driving the instrument with a Windcontroller.
Best,
