other samplemodeling instruments lag when recording

edited May 2012 in General Questions
I'm on ableton live 8.1.4 and win 7 with a sandybridge i7 quadcore (2760qm) and 8gb ram. I'm running 3 instances of kontakt 4 with trumpet, tenor trombone, and alto sax.

What's happening is that when I record, the instance I'm playing performs fine, and the other instances are playing back fine, but as I play for 10-15 secs, the other instruments start lagging. There's no asio tearing or cpu spikes (around 25%). I'm not sure why the kontakt instances would even affects each other.. just wondering if there's a workaround for this since it makes recording very difficult.

I recommend to bounce/freeze the tracks. Or maybe try a different host, audio card, etc.

well, sure that applies to almost any plugin in any state.

Something specific is happening to just the kontakt instances holding samplemodeling, since all the other vstis are playing back just fine. And as I said, it's even stranger that the instance of kontakt I'm recording plays back just fine.

But anyway, perhaps it's just a freak anomaly. I'll see if I can test it out in a different host. (though that's not really a valid solution)

btw, I'm wondering if specific samplemodeling instruments require specific versions of kontakt. Seems to make sense as particular instruments may have been programmed specifically on a particular kontakt version.

Anyway, just trying to think of all possibilities. I'm loading everything into kontakt 4 btw.

    Hi kensuguro,

indeed, very strange. But... why don´t you contact us via our e-mail (info(at)samplemodeling.com) or the Contact page and send us an example? :-) Like an audio or MIDI file clearly demonstrating the problem?.. Please let us also know a bit more: what is exactly your Kontakt version? What is your audio buffer setting?

At the moment we cannot propose any workaround, because nobody reported even something similar so far... But I am sure we will nail it! :-)

    Thank you.

It's not a solution, but it will at least tell you whether or not your host is part, or maybe even all of the problem.

What are your multi processor settings in Kontakt?
