Missing FIle

edited January 2011 in General Questions
I upgraded Kontackt 3.5 to 4.0 a few months ago. Now, when I launch the Sax Bros, and try to load any of the Saxes, I get a message that says that the tga file is missing and it gives the expected location. The last message I got said - MrSaxT.tga file could not be found. This would be a graphics file I asume a picture of a Tennor Sax. I hit skip the missing file and the sample loads fine with a picture. Since the files are packaged in the installer package and do not know where to look for this missing file. I looked through my Kontakt 3.5 directories and can't find anything. It would help to know I have a MAC. It seems that Kontakt 4.0 has introduced the .tga file directory called "wallpaper" in the Native Insturnments folder. Is this a problem just in Kontakt 4? Or do I need to reinstall the Sax Bros to get the files back??

Thanks

  • Hi RJ,

    the .tga file is, indeed, the "wallpaper" of the instrument - it´s the GUI background. It is encoded (as far as The Sax Brothers are concerned) in the file

    The Sax Brothers_info.nkx

    This file should be (and certainly is) placed in the library folder "The Sax Brothers Library".

    Your problem seems to be clearly Kontakt-related. The Sax Brothers has been developed on Kontakt 3.5 und you confirmed that it was working correctly. Only updating to Kontakt 4.0 has shown the problem - for unknown reasons (nobody reported something like that so far) Kontakt apparently does not find the tga file inside "The Sax Brothers_info.nkx".

    Since you confirmed already in our e-mail exchange that you did not move any files, only Native Instruments can help. Please note that it´s Native Instruments which provide the technical support for our products, and - as the Kontakt software licensor - they are the Kontakt experts.

    Thanks Peter;

    I will run this by NI, but I think you just helped me solve the problem. I do not have a "Sax Brothers" directory, mine is titled "Sample Modelling". I do not think this is significant, however when I check the files located in the root directory, here is what I have;

    Instruments

    Mr.Sax A .nki

    Mr.Sax B .nki

    Mr.Sax T .nki

    Reverb

    Samples

    The Sax Bros_Mr.SaxA .nkc

    The Sax Bros_Mr.SaxA .nkx

    The Sax Bros_Mr.SaxB .nkc

    The Sax Bros_Mr.SaxB .nkx

    The Sax Bros_Mr.SaxT .nkc

    The Sax Bros_Mr.SaxT .nkx

    There is no "The Sax Bros_info.nkx" file anywhere. I am beginning to wonder if it was somehow placed within Kontakt 3.5, directory when the original installation was done, and when I loaded Kontakt 4 and deleted the Kontact 3.5 directory, it would have been deleted with Kontakt 3.5. Since the install file is a package file, it leads me to beleive that I need to reinstall the software to restore the file.

    Thanks For your Help.
