More Flugelish?

edited March 2011 in User demos
I was messing around with the Flugel sound. I used Audio Damage Vapor to diffuse the sound a bit and CamelPhat to filter out the top end. I'm losing perspective. :? Does anyone think it's sounding more or less like a flugelhorn? Ignore the tune...just a quickie to play over. -Perry-

what do you mean exactly? more 'breathy' sound?

I kind of lost perspective... One of my very few issues with The Trumpet is that the flugel doesn't have that round, warm breathy sound I would expect. I'm a trumpet player myself and I know the style & individual player has a lot to do with the sound. When Maynard Ferguson played flugel it sounded very trumpet-like. I suppose Chuck Mangione sounded too flugelish! I intend to experiment more when time permits. ;) -Perry-

btw, I even don't know how to achieve breathy flugel sound like in 'Yello - Till Tomorrow', is it possible at all?

If you are using a Windcontroller:

At first I could not get much of a difference between the Flugelhorn and the other Trumpet sounds. Then I figured out that by turning up the gain (on the audio amp) and playing very softly, with low pressure, the timbre became very mellow and much more like the rounded sound of a Flugelhorn.

Thanks dstong, I'm using a BC3 so I'll give it a try! -Perry-

I did notice a more rounded tone at the reduced velocities and breath pressure. Thanks for the tip! :)
