How Many Bones?

edited April 2010 in General Questions
I remember reading about Tenor, Bass and Valve Trombones being created. Will they be separate releases or bundled together as one product? -Perry-

  • Perry,

The Trombone package will include two Tenor-Ts, one Valve-T, and one Bass-T.

    Hello there :)

Will there be a solo tone mute with the trombone? also, i'm hoping you'll be able to wah the trombone just like with the trumpet! Can you?

So how do the trombone slides work? can you slide at any speed you want?

    Can't wait for it!

    Thanks for making the instrument!

    Speak soon.

  • Hi James,

Will there be a solo tone mute with the trombone?

Do you mean generally the availability of the muted sound? Yes, you can load the mutes in the same way as in our Trumpet.

Of course the wah-wah sound is also available.

how do the trombone slides work?

Via the PitchBend. It will allow a perfect glissando of minor third in both directions. That means an overall interval of 6 semitones - exactly as the full stroke of the trombone slide. Of course the speed, shape etc. of the glissando is completely in player´s hands.

Also, the timbral consistency is fully maintained - for example D3 transposed to F3 by the "slide" (i.e. the PitchBend) sounds exactly as F3 without PitchBend.

    All the best

    Hello Peter,

Great to hear about the mutes, and the wah-wah.

What I meant by 'solotone' mute, it's a trombone mute - that looks like this http://images.miretail.com/products/optionLarge/HumesBerg/247243.jpg

So I was wondering, if one of these brilliant sounding mutes is included.

Can't wait for it to be released! When are you thinking of releasing it :) ?

    Speak soon ;)

    Thanks,

    James
  • Hi James,

we use the most common mutes (as we did with The Trumpet): Cup, Straight, Harmon, Harmon + stem, Plunger and Bucket.

As far as the release is concerned - the tenor trombone is ready, but we are still working hard on the bass trombone. This may take a couple of weeks, then we must send it to Native Instruments for encoding...

    All the best

    Peter
