It's been awfully quiet around here!

How are the T-Bones and/or strings coming along?

  • Perry,

we are playing The Trombone nearly 24 hours a day. It's such a fun that we're getting jealous, almost thinking not to release it to the public. Only to friends.

Like you and our Samplemodeling customers. :)

That much T-Bone is bad for your cholesterol...you should share!

    Hi Giorgio,

Excited to hear about the trombone (looks like I'll be selling my real one). Really looking forward to the strings though. Just curious, I seem to remember reading somewhere in the forum that sample modeling were working on "section" versions of the string instruments. Has there been any progress made with these? Having an expressive string section that uses s.m.'s technology is quite the tantalising prospect (and would be very practical given i can't afford a real string section).

    Cheers,

    Cam

Actually, section strings would be the ultimate. Peter knows exactly what a great string ensemble should sound like! The SM team could make it happen! :D

Awesome. Care to post a small example?

Even just a few bars of someone noodling around. ;)

Yes, a few notes would be great! Will you be creating bass and tenor trombones?
  • Tenor, Bass, valve Trombone

Georgio, is the soprano saxophone still being investigated please? :)
  • Ben,

Miss Sax S might eventually see the light, but on a completely different, proprietary platform.

Stefano & Lele are working hard on that.

    Oh my. :o

Is that for technical reasons? ie is there something that Kontakt can't do?

Or is there some other reason for the move?

Oh, and does that mean that the current line up or future lineup may also change platforms?

I'm sure I will probably love it anyway. It's just a shame that yet another platform would be thrown into the mix. :(

    Thanks for your reply,

    Ben H
  • As far as Stefano's synchronous wavetriggering technique is concerned, Kontakt has indeed limitations. Gigantic efforts were required to implement this technology on the Kontakt platform.

Even though excellent results could be obtained, some incredible advancements will only be achieved by implementing this technology on a dedicated platform.

Conversely, my Harmonic Alignment technique is perfectly suitable to Kontakt, and The Trombone will be released on this platform. This will most likely apply to the whole string series.

    Best,

    Giorgio

    Hi Giorgio,

I understand. Thanks for your time and your explanation.

BTW I am constantly amazed by yours and Stephano's attempts to push the boundaries of what we know as "sampling," to provide us with such expressive and playable instruments.

So I wish you both every success for 2010, and look forward to what new instruments you bring.

    Regards,

    Ben H

I sure like your quick aside about "new strings". I'm dying to get my hands on a usable string product!

Is there a rough ETA for the trombones or viola? I'm pretty excited about the viola, as I have the Gofriller Cello & the Stradivari Violin. Hey Giorgio, I'll buy the viola now to be a beta tester! :D -Perry-

    Perry,

What do you use to control your Gofriller Cello? Keyboard or wind controller?

Hi Giorgio, after two years secretly playing the viola, sure you are a master player now! ;)

Can you show us your skills, please?

    Blancanegra,

since I'm going to play secretly, I'm afraid I cannot show my mastership.
