I'm a Logic user myself, and have never bothered with Garageband - however here is some info that I hope will be useful to you.

The samplemodeling instruments comes in various formats. One of them is the Mac format AU. This is what you will have to use to play The Trumpet from Garageband.

    The text below is from:

Okay what's an AU? It's an Audio Units Plugin, part of Mac OS X's Core Audio system level plug-in architecture which allows developers to write plug-ins in a single format which any OS X application can use ...

    Huh? Oh, scary geekspeak, sorry.

All that you really need to know in regard to what an AU is can be simplified to: It's the kind of Plug-In that GarageBand uses.

There is a lot of more info where I got this quotation.

I hope this helps. I have received so much useful helps and tips by asking on forums like this, so I thought I had to try - even though I really don't know Garageband.

I have received very much help from the forums on

    http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa.

I'm pretty sure you will find some Garageband users with samplemodeling instruments there.

    Good luck.

...now I have some trumpet playing to do :)
