Using the MDT to drive the Sample Modeling products

Hi all. Just curious. Is anyone using their Morrison Digital Trumpet (MDT) to actually drive this fantastic software? Reason I ask is my MDT is midi only. You can't connect via USB. Instead I play on a Yamaha Vl70-m unit and not PC software. If you are literally driving this with the MDT how do you drive it on your PC Or laptop. Do you have to have a midi port on the computer? Or do you convert somehow between the MDT and the computer.

I also have a Roland Fantom X8 which I might consider buying this and running it that way but I'm just confused how works with MDT if at all. Or do the references here refer to some other abbrev? Would anyone mind explaining to me how theirs MDT works?

Thanks in advance and I hope it's not a dumb question.

Just answered similar on another forum. You can buy a midi-usb adaptor. Currently you can buy one for a little over £3 $5 approx delivered check ebay theres 100's.

This is a link taken at random, I've seen cheaper.

They do work, I've used one before with my WX7.

Just to add to the above. If you want to upgrade the soundcard in your laptop, buy a soundcard with midi connectors.

If its to use with Mr sax T I'd recommend something like the M-audio fast track pro which can run at 88hz recommended by the samplemodeling team.

    Just another option.

    Regards Pete.

I use a very simple Yamaha midi-to-USB adapter and it works just fine. Interestingly, I've tried using my MDT to drive the VL-70m and have been very disappointed with the sound that results... much more "artificial" than when using my WX-5 wind controller. So much so that I really only use the MDT with Mr. Trumpet these days.
