My Song
Hi,
I want to introduce a song from me made with Trumpet, all MrSax programms and some other PlugIns. It's a song from a part of a German City, maybe a kind of hymn. What do you think of the sound of the saxes and trumpets? What can I make better in future?
Thanks in advance.

0 Ko for me !
I have deleted my file. 71 downloads and no comments. Maybe it is not the right place to post songs made with Trumpet and Sax
I strongly suspect that, as it was in my case, many attempted to download a zero kb file. This, and not a lack of interest, is probably responsible for missing comments. Please upload it again.
Giorgio
thank you for the answer. I tried it again, using your upload attachement.
But again it is a zero-file. What is wrong? How can i do a complete and working upload?
we are very sorry for the delay, but we are still waiting for the feedback of our webmaster; he tries to find out the reason for this problem (the uploads of other users are working...).
We hope to know it soon.
Best
Peter
I've tried this a few times ago : many times, upload does work only if the file do not exceed 2MB.
I had to cut the song the make it more light.

we would like to inform you that our webmaster finally found and fixed the bug (which, BTW, was well hidden in a third-party application inside the system software). Now it´s possible to download (or listen) to attachments bigger than 3 MB (up to 5 MB).
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Peter & Giorgio
thank you.
As now my song can be downloaded, may I ask my first question again:
What do you think of the sound of the saxes and trumpets in my song? What can I make better in future?
Thanks to all!

I can ensure you that you did a very good beginning! :-)
Now, please note the importance of some additional modulation of the notes of a longer duration - like, say, quarternotes and more. I have the impression that these notes are a bit too steady. It´s prudent to try a slight pitch bend or a little vibrato, for example. Mostly you will not hear simply a vibrato but intead you will notice that the note is less steady, something changes. The note is more "alive". If you simply press a key and "wait" till the end of the note - this is not sufficiant. Sometimes it works very well if you always keep a certain CC1 value producing a very shallow vibrato - even for short, fast sequences (actually, CC1 should be so little, that it is not yet perceived as a vibrato).
Please do not take me wrong - I am sure you applied all those things, but I think you could apply even more...
If you did not do it yet, please download our example MIDI files:
The Trumpet:

The saxes:

Please have a closer look at the controller tracks and the way they are used. I think they show very well the importance of the vivid, agile controler use... :-)
Best regards
Peter
to be honest, this demo doesn’t do justice to the great capabilities of the trumpet.
Personally, I have never heard a Mr. Sax demo on the forum, which really sounded completely convincing (I am a saxophone player myself), but there are some really good examples for the Trumpet.
But in this song, all the horns do sound exactly as my cheapest General Midi Instruments would sound.
In my opinion, it is absolutely neccesary to know how a real trumpet works, in the best case, to be a trumpet player, but at least you should have laid hands on any wind instrument for some time. Then you know, how a phrase would be articulated in real life and can try to emulate that phrasing with the software instrument.
This is what your demo is definitely lacking. The phrasing, i.e. which notes are played legato and which notes are tongued seems to be just as it comes out of the box. Also some further playing techniques like dynamics, vibrato, some of the special release samples.
Same goes for the saxes, but, as I mentioned above, the sax family has never convinced me at all, especially when used not as a solo Instrument, but in a section - voiced or in unison.
So for your request what to do better: use some of the extended playing techniques, dynamics, vibrato and - most of all - plan your phrasing ahead. If you are not a wind player, pay attention to how real players articulate.
Cheers, MM
For me it would sound better if you would change the mixing of the reverb (i.e : to make it more dry)
Regards
I thought it sounded great.
Regards Pete.
I've post in the past on this forum some examples of the trumpet in jazz tunes like "all blues" or "someday my prince will come" ... after many years of jazz listening, you begin to have the right attitude.
Just listen many time to the old jazzmen players, you will understand how that work.
The most it sounds awfull, the better it is !!!

I want to say thank you to all of you and your comments. You are right, I can't play any wind instrument, I think that is the biggest problem.
And yes, I hear, that my song does not sound like real saxes and trumpets do. The question is: What is the reason? I am sure, that 95% of the sound of an instrument is the player, and only five percent is the instrument. So a song build with sampleplayers will never sound like a big band. But nevertheless, I like the sound and the possibilities auf the "The Trumpet" and the Sax family, giving me the chance to make songs with brass and wind, although I have no contact to good playing musicians (and I can't pay them
Thanks to all the links you've posted, I will take a intensive look at them to learn more about the possibilities of the Trumpet and Saxes.
All the best
