Multiple instances of Kontakt Player (standalone on a Mac?
This is probably a really dumb question but I am having difficulty opening multiple instances of Kontakt player as standalone on my macbook. Am I missing some elementary mac-ism to do this or is this only possible with a host program. I have cubase Studio among others but I am trying to minimize how many apps I have going on for live play situations.

multiple instances of Kontakt are suggested when dealing with a host program. This leads to a remarkable improvement of the overall performance.
Best,

I ask that, because on my mac, i didn't match opening 3 sessions separately, and on my laptop PC itry it but it doesn't work really good...
So, i decided to run the 3 in one instance and it seems to work good.
i hope doing the right thing...
In cubase is simple:
1 Load three instances of K (each with only one instrument)
2 Create three midi tracks each assigned to an instrument.
3 Enable the record (or monitoring) for each track

For the live, it's most simple to use a vst host, i've tried a few of them as "chainer" or "console" and i use "console" because it has some function very interresting as audio wiring, excellent midi mapping/automation and a "default" setup witch can be put in your program start folder witch allow you to start automatically your session with your own setup when you turn on your computer : on stage, this made that you don't need screen, keyboard and mousse : only your central unit and the ewi ...

Until now, I never encountered any difficulties. If it works, it works, and it is a bit simpler to run and setup.
When you record, you will use a host program anyway, and the use of several instances of Kontakt is better. Although, even in this situation, I also had no problems with the 'wrong' method described above, when I record one instrument and render it to audio, then record the next one, etc.
I'm like Phil999. I play live only one instrument at a time. So i load in one instance the 3 sax (T on Ch1, A on Ch2, B on Ch3) and it works... or i think so. To be sure, i load one after the other in one instance of K3 and the sax not sounding different as 3 sax in one instance. This is why I ask this question. In all case, i play only one Sax at a time and never do it in another way (i mean live...).
This depend of what you play ...
On jazz standard, i like to change of instrument in a tune and make saxophone answer to the trumpet or play unisson trumpet and sax on the riffs ...
I use for this the two buttons on the right side of the EWI, they are configured to send volume informations to the trumpet and the sax or to plug the mute on the trumpet : miles start the theme with the mute on all blues and goes in chorus with a full sound ... and later,
the sax respond ...
there are other possibilities with an extra vst host as add vst effect connected on other sound card out this allow you to use different effects on the sax and on the trumpet ...

yes, that's what I like too.
