wx7 and adding growl

edited February 2010 in Windcontrollers
Firstly, I love the instrument. Having come from a zero woodwind background to playing live in a practice session on Sunday evening in two weeks says a lot about the ease of use of both the wx7 and Mr sax t. I had tried using garritan gpo and sampletank & soniksynth2 prior to that with limited success (particularly with sampletank & Sonik Synth) but this software just sounds lovely, even for a novice.

One thing I can't do though is add growl without forfitting one of the controlling elements on the wx7. I guess I could try to assign growl to the bite sensor controller but I would lose vibrato and pitch control. Does anyone know a workaround? Can I assign the thumb wheel pitch bender to a Different cc number to the bite sensor? If not, could I use my fcb1010 expression pedal to do it? I have a midi interface with 2 inputs so I wonder if I can have the wx7 going into one input and the fcb1010 into the second and assign control via the kontakt player interface (though I am a bit of a midi noob). Any tips would b gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

you can chain the fcb1010 and the WX7, and assign one pedal to growl, and the other to flutter for example. Like this you have one MIDI input free in your interface. I know the programming of the fcb1010 might be a bit tricky, especially for beginners in MIDI, but in the end it is very simple and can be done while standing. Good luck!

thanks. Is the theory that you set the fcb1010 to output on the same channel as the wx7 and then somehow tell the fcb1010 to talk to the CC field on Mr sax T (or should that be get the software to listen to the incoming midi from the fcb1010?

I did download an editor some time back - must dig it out again to see how it can be programmed.

Good news that it is possible though!

Well, just to update progress on this. I finally got my rear in gear following the purchase of the Sax Brothers and set up the FCB1010 to output growl on CC21 via the expression a pedal and flutter on exp b pedal. It was actually quite painless once I had downloaded the guide that I found on the internet.

I could re-assign the cc number for any controller quite easily if I wanted to (through the fcb and not the software option). I can't see a great use for the flutter over and above the effect I seem to be able to get when I "hum" into the wx7 mouthpiece so what other facility would be good to assign to exp b pedal?

    Learning as I go....

    Thanks

    Hi all:

I noticed the mention of the FCB1010.

Did anyone have an issue with the unit because it doesn't seem to transmit a "note off" command? All the "note on" commands appear to get caught in Sonar and making key switches to kind of sum up, causing a snarl. Did anyone else notice this and, if so, was there a wrk-around?

    Thanks,

    outland
