Valve Noise included?

edited March 2008 in General Questions
Hello, First let me give you my thanks for creating an amazing VSTi. I'm a former trumpet player and am amazed by your demos. One question I have is, have you also sampled valve noise and can the user add a varying amount of valve noise within this instrument for more realism? I strictly use a Yamaha BC1 breath controller with my 2 Yamaha VL synths as well as WIVI, and other Vsti's, so I'm very interested in your product, mainly for real time performance, and less for having to program a performance. Any info that you could share re: this would be helpful. Thank you very much!

    Jcn7,

We actually did more than just adding valve noise. Legato/portamento is carried out by using authentic half-valve sounds, chromatically sampled at various dynamics.

The Trumpet is very flexible. It can be easily used in realtime by exploiting the three main controllers, plus some modulating keyswitches, with excellent results. One of the demos was actually made in real time using a BC3. I'm using the trumpet with either an expression pedal (well, actually two, the right one for expression and the left for vibrato), or with a BC3. Realtime playing is too much fun with this instrument. :)

Hi Giorgio, and thank you very much for the info! I look forward (as I'm sure you do too) to the Trumpet's release. I have one more question...can the user use aftertouch to control vibrato depth as opposed to using the mod wheel? In other words, will we, the user be able to re-assign various controllers to suite our playing style? Thank you!

Unfortunately not, at least in standalone mode (remapping can be of course be accomplished in a sequencer: aftertouch to CC1). This is due to the fact that Kontakt scripts do dot recognize the aftertouch as a controller. This feature has been asked to NI by many, but it has not been implemented so far.
