I use a ECHO Audiofire 12 (thread above) at work for experiments and it's a great(and beautiful) card, too. The drivers arent as good as E-MUs IMO but latencies and sound quality are good. If you need Mic Preamps, you shouldnt buy the Audiofire 12, since it just has 12 Line Inputs. I think, its designed for people, who mostly need many analog inputs or outputs (thats why we bought it at my work). The Audiofire 8 is the better choice if you need Preamps (2). The ECHO cards have some advantages over the E-MU card (eg, 10in/10out simultaneously in 96khz/24bit) and vice versa.
I think you should first decide what you actually need in a soundcard (whats the problem with your M-Audio card?) and then search for a card that fits your needs. There are plenty of fish in the sea of audio interfaces and most of them will work with the Samplemodeling stuff. just find the one you love

It might help if you say (as already asked), what you don't like about the "fast track pro"? Is it the color
Personally it works great for me.
Regards Pete.
More than 2 outs is very interresting for routing on stage performances with vst effects : you can use 1/2 for the sax, 3/4 for the trumpet, 5/6 for the sax effects and 7/8 for the trumpet effects.

I might be wrong, but I don't think a new soundcard will solve your problems. I think if you do opt for a new soundcard, I would buy something that can be returned if it is not suitable.
Have you turned off all unnessessary programs, applications, internet, network adaptors/wireless, etc?
If your using Vista, it's much more Ram intensive than XP (and there may be other issues with Vista, as I have experienced), meaning you probably have less than 1GB spare.

tested on my PCs, Intel Core2 Duo & Quad, 2.66 GHz, 2 & 3 GB RAM, XP, Fast Track Pro.
Mr. Sax T. and The Trumpet work perfectly at 88.2 KHz in Cubase, either on a single instance of KontaktPlayer2 (two instruments loaded, Sax & Trumpet), or on two instances of K2Player (one instrument loaded Sax or Trumpet).
Best,
Giorgio
and i listen that core duo(your) is better than dual core(me)
thanks
are you shure to have the latest versions of the
sax and trumpet ?
are you shure to have the best version of your drivers ?

Increasing the buffer size of the audio card helps, but at the cost of more latency. One has to find a balance, or use different buffer sizes for mixing and tracking.
The Trumpet uses significantly more CPU power than the sax.
Using a dual CPU with 2+GHz is recommended, it makes life much easier.
Again I don't think your problem is the soundcard. You don't have to play at 88200 on the "fast track", so if, for whatever reason you want to change that. Its easier to simply change the setting, rather than the soundcard.

Obviously the higher spec the better, but as I only use one instrument/patch at a time, someone else could maybe offer you some advice on the best purchase.
Regards Pete.
Good news
