Unable to use 88.2! Any ideas?

edited April 2009 in General Questions
I have an HP Pavilion laptop. (3.2G CPU, 1.25G Ram, 533FSB)

The HardDrive is 5400RPM

I'm using a Presonus Firepod firewire interface.

I can set the Firepod to 88.2 (it doesn't show sample rates... only ms latency)

I set Kontakt at 88.2 in both places.

So far, I have been unable to play at 88.2.

The best I can get is intermittent, distorted notes.

What else do I need to look for?

Any help would be appreciated.

Mick

how do you set it to 88.2 kHz, if it doesn't show the number? Does the card support this sample rate?

Some (older) audio cards support only 44.1 and 48 kHz. But this should always be clearly visible in the driver window, hence my first question.

    Hi Phil,

    I can pick 44.1, 48, 88.1 or 96.

After that is chosen, I have no option of choosing a "sample size". (256, 512 etc.) only ms latency. (1-25 ms)

    hi,

did you save/reload your instruments with the 88.2 settings ?

mr sax and the trumpet need to be saved and reloaded

    when changing the sample rate.

in that case everything is fine. The "buffer size" (256, 512, etc.) and the latency in ms are the same thing.

As zeppusclub said, you may need to restart Kontakt, the VST-host or even reboot your system before the changes take effect.

    Got it!!

Bob Hunt was able to walk me through. Latency had to be set at 18ms.

Hi Mick, sounds a bit high on the latency?? You should be able to get 7 or less ms at 88.2.

Hope its OK for you. At the end of the day, figures mean nothing, its how it plays. I can discern no latency whatsoever, hopefully its the same for you.

    Regards Pete.
