now nothing works...

edited March 2009 in General Questions
OK so I was using 2.01 or the trumpet so I skipped to number four of the directions.

I renamed my existing "instruments" folder to "instruments 1.01" and then dropped the new folder I downloaded onto "the trumpet" folder thus copying it to "the trumpet" folder.

now I get no instruments when I open Kontakt player 2?

This same procedure worked fine for installing 1.02 of "Mr Sax T" but not for "the trumpet"???

Also, something has changed drastically in Mr sax t???

Now whenever I play a note a have to keep moving the expression pedal constantly on every new note I play or the next note I play will be at a minimal volume and I have to start the expression pedal at the lowest volume setting and bring the volume up again FOR EVERY NOTE???

I'm sure we will figure it out, we always do but as of right now this is not working at all.

anyway, any help would really help!

I'm on a Mac G5 running 10.4.11 and the expression pedal works fine for many other virtual instruments so it's not a faulty pedal. I'm not using a wind controller and I have the setting in KP2 set to "keyboard"

HELP!!!

Thanks,

Arapahoe

Yeah, I renamed the original "instruments" folder in the trumpet folder and removed the new "instruments" folder and now I have my old instruments back...

So there is something wrong with the downloaded folder...

I will try downloading it again and see if it still happens.

downloaded the 2.01a file again and went through the whole procedure a second time and it still does not work.

No instruments show up and I DIDN'T MOVE any folders after the initial installation.

I even tried switching out the .nkx file to see if it made any difference and it doesn't...

and I'm absolutely using the 2.01 version so I was supposed to be able to skip to step 4 in the instructions and go from there.

I'v spent about 3 hours on this now, so I'm going to bed.

hopefully i will get some answers tomorrow.

    Thanks

  • arapahoe,

there was no need to download the instruments again...

I think you do. Please do not click on the "Instruments" button in the Player browser, but on the small triangle icon to the right (between "Instruments" and "Multis"). You will see there the whole folder structure. This is a Player bug which appears only under some particular circumstances. Native Instruments promised to fix it in the incomming version 3.5.

Also, something has changed drastically in Mr sax t???

Nothing what could explain your problem... Did you use exactly the same MIDI setup as before? It seems that Mr. Sax receives another expression data from another source, which is set to 0. As long as you move your pedal, the right values are transmitted, but when you stop, the other source takes over, driving the dynamics to the lowest value. Please check your setup, using, for example, a MIDI monitor.

You can also check it as follows: disconnect your pedal, so no expression data is sent. Start Mr Sax, wait a few seconds, and play a few notes. Normally, you have to get the warning saying that no expression data is received. If this is the case, try the following: close and load the instrument again, don´t touch any keys and make sure that no expression warning came yet. Then move the pedal and check whether Mr. Sax works correctly.

If you don´t get any warning after loading and playing a note, it´s a proof that the nki receives another expression source.

    Please let us know.

    Peter,

This weekend, I will detail everything to you (show exactly what I've done) to try to install this update (including screen-shots).

I know you want to help, but I've been using PC's and music software for 20 years... and I'm not just complaining, when I say it is difficult to get this program loaded correctly.

I know I can eventually do it (perhaps with your help), but I have only one other program that is as difficult to load/update than Trumpet and Sax. I've followed the "read me" file 3 times, AND even uninstalled both Trumpet/Sax... but the file-structure remains 'skewed'.

It's going to take the weekend, to show you what I mean.

    Regards,

I didn´t want to question your PC experience. The fact is that there is something wrong with your setup. No doubt - otherwise we would have received hundreds of similar complains. But there is just 1... Believe me, I tested the file replacement many, many times before releasing the new versions. Something went wrong on your comp and remains there as a permanent problem.

I expected you send me your e-mail via our contact page, since I have to know some facts like for example the date of your download (to verify the ZIP version) and check some Kontakt-related issues. I´m ready to nail the problem - maybe even without your screenshots and weekend - long research. But it´s up to you of course.

    With best wishes

I would willingly help you, but I need more facts - please e-mail me via the contact page. The principle of the update is really very simple: the user has to replace just 3 objects:

    - the Documentation file

    - the Instruments file

    - the [...]info.nkx file

(where [...] is the name of the instrument)

The file [...]info.nkc should be deleted before starting the software.

    That´s all...

And all that is clearly described in the Readme.txt.

If you are missing Redame.txt (not .pdf!), please let me know.

Please go to the contact page and let me know the date of the purchase, so that I can verify the ZIP version you have.

Peter, THANKS!!! (You really helped me think this through.)

My problem is solved, and as you said... the update/upgrade files work just fine.

As you know, the problem I was having was with my not selecting the "menu" in Kontakt Player.

To make a long story short, your update works just fine.

    Regards and peace,
