once' more : how to eliminate audio click and artefacts.

edited February 2009 in General Questions
Hi everybody,

I write from france, i'm a new user of mr sax and the trumpet.

I try since few weeks to configure the instruments, midi controllers and values with ewi 4000 and possibility, etc ...

Good, now i play and control everything as i want : the inversed value of portamento was surmonted by extra midi filter/converter and everything is all right with my ewi : i can control the switch between the instruments, the growl, portamento, fluttering and affect a mute directly with the ewi.

the only one problem not resolved is the audio artefact : i try every sample rates and buffer size on my layla echo with a big machine : dual 3GHz, 4GB RAM and full speed SATA HDD but every 20 minutes i must restart the audio engine to stop the audio clics that appears.

I switch off all the windows processus we don't need, all the task of the back ground but i alway have this clicks ...

this problem is hard in live seances because it alway appear in the middle of a title !!! :D

between every sets, i restart the pc in witch i use a programmed start on for the trumpet and mister sax.

have you an idea to eliminate these audio artefacts without restart engine or pc ? is there any better config or sound card that layla echo ...

thanks for your help !!! and your instruments sounds very very very great with a maximum of capabilitys !!!

felicitations to you and the staff

    Hi YVAN,

I did not have the bug of the CPU load increase with the trumpet version 2.01 but i also had click and artefacts but only with The Trumpet.

With the 2.01a i do not meet this pb anymore with The Trumpet and with my old P4 3GH 1.5 Go RAM the CPU does not reach more than 50%.

Did you proceed to the update ?

Do you have this pb with Mr Sax T ?

    Regards

    Hello,

Yes, i have the update for the trumpet and the problem is egal on the sax or/and on the trumpet.

In my opinion, it's not a cpu overload, my cpu not exceed 15% with the both instruments played simultaneusly.

The problem came from the steaming on the hdd that we can't set correctly.

with a large buffer size value, there is no problem but instruments are not usables in live performance dues to latency.

with small buffer size value, the problem exist dues to the access time of the hdd, same with sata witch don't have a better access time than ide.

i will try with old SCSI disk at 10000RPM, they are faster for the access.

i will also try to change my video card, because i had many years ago the same problem with a less performance video card.

    and you ?

Aside from my old PC i have an old video card and it's working fine.

What latency do you need for live performance ?

5 ms is very good for the vibes ....

10 ms is playable but ... il manque un petit quelque chose pour controller le vibrato, surtout dans les notes basses ....

c'est vrai que 5 ms, c'est le top !!!! mais ça click au bout de 20 minutes ....
