First piece with The Trumpet

edited February 2009 in User demos
Hello all,

I´m enclosing my first humble steps with The Fabulous Trumpet. I wrote a little bossa tune and arranged it for Trumpet/Rhodes/Bass.

Any feedback/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    Hey Boogieman,

Nice little piece. Your Trumpet work was very credible. The lines fit well with the clip. I liked the song too. Your hooks made me want to listen to more. I do hear that hard to describe held back feeling. It is something in the software or settings.

It is the same when I play. I feel this more with the Trumpet than the Sax. Maybe it's a compressed sound. Please know I am not trying to discredit your playing.

    Hi Bob,

thank you for your comment! Your observation of "holding back" nailed it, though I´m sure it is because of my playing rather than the software: I´m still struggling with the EWI USB breath gain (and other) settings to find a reasonable compromise. When I try to play the EWI like my sax and be more expressive, the attacks and velocities are all over the place and many times above 100, so the sound becomes shrill very quickly. I went for very even and mellow attacks for the bossa piece, and paid the price of a rather small dynamic range...
