Hi! Recently bought all the SM brass, and I'm very impressed by most of the instruments! Finally modelled brass with a realistic tone and great playability 😊

I have had AV Infinite brass for a couple of years, and even if I like many of it’s aspects likebthebshort notes and playability, the tone and dynamics are in general better in SM Brass IMO, except for the horns.

I really haven't taken a liking to SM French horns yet. The dynamics and tone sounds...wierd, compared to the trumpets, trombones and tuba (which I am really impressed with). The FH sounds almost compressed in terms of volume, just the tone changing color to more cuivre/brassy from mP/mF and upwards. I have AV infinite horns which I use instead, but would like to know if there are any tips on getting the horns up to the same level as trumpets/trombones/horns, any tips?

Hi everyone,

I'm having a strange problem with The Trumpet v3 when rendering MIDI tracks to audio in Cubase Pro 11.

In the rendered audio track, the transition from harmon mute back to open/no mute is not clean. The passage that should be back on an unmuted sound is still muted until partway through the phrase where it reverts to an open sound. This is not the case with the MIDI tracks or the MIDI programing, where the transitions are clean.

I'm not sure what's going on here as I've allowed plenty of time in the track for the MIDI controller data ti be sent. Can anyone help please?

Thanks.

As a keyboardist armed with a breath controller, I'm gaining appreciation for the expressive subtlety of vibrato beyond just strength, but varying rate, and skew both in time and in pitch (up/down/centered) and would really love to be able to play as much of this in as possible...which seems very possible with this software but I'm having some difficulty getting the control I want. This kinda comes to a frustration and a wish:

First the frustration: is there a cap (maximum) or better yet a response curve for vibrato sensitivity? Pitch bend wheels and sticks (like mine) often have too limited a throw and too much deadband, and breath/wind controller bite pressure response varies widely based on where your mouth/teeth are relative to the reed switch...even mapped to my continuous damper, it's difficult to smoothly introduce a small amount of vibrato and too easy to overreach into that 3-step flutter mode. I wind up clamping down values in Logic and have to remember to toggle that transformer off when going to other tracks...am I missing way(s) to do this things within the instrument?

Second, what I'd really love is an MPE mode: I've found the Roli 'squishboards' to be game changing with other modeled instruments, allowing me to actually play in all the subtlety described above. But so far as I can tell, the maximum 400% pitch sensitivity doesn't get anywhere close to the 48 step range Roli's scheme seems to depend on. Is there any current way to make this happen with the brass? Anyone know any tricks to get Roli to output a standard range pitch bend at the expense of multi-note slides? Could there ever be a Roli/MPE friendly mode, since there's such good support for breath already?

***the other reason this would be especially cool for ensemble use is justifying chords. Being able to reproduce that goosebump-inducing perfect interval when good horn players push or pull their notes to perfect justification would be really enticing, and well within the realm of possibility on a Roli

What I can already manage with a (problematic) pitch stick tells me that the instruments already respond in all the right ways, but whether this is a tech support question or feature request, I'd be very interested in more capable and reliable control over it

Hi

I have used your instruments for some years. Yesterday I was recording an arrangement for a client, and ran into trouble. In the end of the song the brass band should play a really long note. I checked with a friend - professional trombone player - to be sure that a live performer would be able to play the long note, and he just could go on and on! ;-)

But my SM Trombone couldn't, so what can I do to pump the players to play a little longer?

Is there a setting a CC or what?

I've purchased and installed the French Horn and Tuba. However, when I load the instrument, I get a message saying that CC! has not been received. The extent of my MIDI knowledge is selecting channels and using keyswitches. I've no idea how to get my keyboard to transmit CC1 other than for the modwheel, and all that does is add vibrato. It is a M-Audio Keystation 88. Presently, I get sound, but at a very low volume, and no kind of keyswitching capabilities. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I have long had some problems with The Trumpet, and always thought it was just my bad playing, but I don't think so anymore, since I have really investigated.

When I bounce a Trumpet track down to audio (I use Logic Pro X) sometimes strange controller data sneaks into the bounce. I use a TEControl breath controller without bite control. The track usually sounds fine as MIDI, but when I bounce there's extra data - velocity and/or CC#2 - and the track sounds bad. Sometimes this is the case in the MIDI version but not usually. Sometimes the bounce sounds fine too, but usually it doesn't.

It really sounds like CC#2 'choking', but I know it could be velocity in conjunction with CC#2.

This does not happen with the other SM instruments I own - Trombone and Strings.

Any ideas?

thank you

Jon
