Dear gentlemen, I really admire your work, especially the trumpets and trombones, those are really the only virtual library a man would ever need. Any chance we'll see woodwinds in the future?

For now I use your former colleague's Audiomodelling woods, but although the controls and possibilities are endless, the overall sound is not what I'd consider realistic. Especially the flutes. Clarinets are fine, bassoons as well, oboes to a point, but flutes just sound nothing like flutes, mainly in the lower areas. All the Audiomodelling instruments share the same weird boxiness, artificial-ness your instruments just don't have, since you're using real recorded samples. So....something to think about perhaps?

Thank you very much for your work!

I'm using this Instrument (in this case Strings) with Expression Maps. I'd like to make the ExMaps the same across all strings, but the Key switches are an octave higher on Vins/Vlas, presumably for easier performance. Is it possible to transpose the Vln/Vla key switches to be an octave lower to match the Cello and Bass?

If not, could I reassign Keyswitches to be changed by CC control. For example, on various values of CC32 (which would match Spitfire's UACC method). Thanks!

Nothing to do with the setup though,..

For bass guitar I experience the same things, and music instruments that sound great in the bedroom, may not sound so great in live situations.

This is a post from Peter & Giorgio from 2013:

reselling a downloaded software is legally very controversial, and the law may remarkably differ in various countries. However, we want to favor our customers, hence we accept reselling, provided that the basic legal requirements are met. What´s meant here is that it´s the reseller responsibility to completely remove/deinstall the software and the license key(s) from all his systems and his data storage devices. He must prove that the software he is selling cannot be used any more nor reinstalled on his computer. In most cases, a difficult task, involving a rather complex procedure. For example, the authorizations of Kontakt-based instruments are managed by Native Instruments via their Service Center. This means that the reseller must first contact us, then Native Instruments, providing them our approval, and asking for deactivation of the licenses. It´s, after all, a Native Instruments decision, and we cannot be liable for that. Furthermore, if the reseller purchased the CD backup option, he is also obliged to send the CD to the new owner.

Should you decide to sell your licenses, please contact our support for further assistance after you find a purchaser.

Is this still relevant? Can I still sell my SM license and does it work the way mentioned above?

Greetings,

Selle

But drag your mouse over it and it should show up.

One thing that I learned is that a firmware upgrade will be needed for hardware to be MIDI 2 compatible. How many companies will do this, rather than wanting everyone to buy new hardware ?

Will samplemodeling make all of the instruments MIDI 2 compatible with an upgrade? Hopefully it is not nearly as much work as developing the application itself ? But I expect it will be a lot of work, but the promised results which include less note jitter, as well as much greater dynamic range should be worth it.

Please let us know what your plans are, so we can start saving up our money for any upgrades.

So amongst the toy..er..tools I've been enamored with while playing the more sophisticated virtual instruments recently is a pair of Roli Blocks. I've been finding they are a spectacularly natural way for keyboardists like me to play in vibrato (which I have new appreciation for) and other pitch effects...but I haven't been able to make use for the brass instruments and am wondering if I'm missing something.

Is there a way to change the pitch bend range for Horns or Trumpets (the two sets I have)? Seems like the Roli pitch control system relies on a 48 half step pitch bend range (and, I presume, the high resolution MIDI) and that extending that range would go most of the way to what I'm after.

Apart from that, are there any plans to offer any other Roli control accommodation in the future?

I looked online and found I need an expression pedal, so I bought the Nektar NX-P expression pedal, along with a 6.35mm to 3.5mm Jack adapter and then a 3.5mm Jack to USB adapter. After all that, the pedal doesn't work and I can't find any information on how to connect one to a digital piano instead of a MIDI keyboard.

It seems the YDP-143 only has Jack sockets for headphones, in which case I've answered my own question, but I also don't know if I need to connect the pedal to the piano or computer if I want to play from the computer on Kontakt.

Sorry if this comes off as a bit rude. I'm feeling a bit stressed right now. Anyway, any information would be appreciated.

Hi, sorry, I put this question in a thread elsewhere but I think maybe this is better place for it as it is a technical issue?

CC19 by default controls both vibrato rate and (when tremolo is activated) tremolo rate. When I remap CC19 to CC1 (with nothing else mapped fo CC1), this successfully remaps vibrato rate, but tremolo rate is still controlled by CC19: it hasn't been remapped. Am I missing something to remap tremolo rate?

Also when I remap vibrato intensity to CC11, this works fine, and the label "CC11" appears correctly next to the vibrato intensify knob, and turning the knob on the GUI works, and inputting CC11 also works, but inputting CC11 is not reflected in the knob's position being updated in the GUI. (Unlike all other knobs, which do update when CC is inputted).

I am loving these instruments, by the way, and have much to learn, but these two interface issues seem to have cropped up for me. Thank you.

It’s a shame that Sample Modeling and Audio Modeling did not manage to work together on their great products and a propriety versatile player engine for their instruments.

Otherwise it could be doable to port such an engine to ARM-Linux and allow running these wonderful instruments e.g. on a Raspberry Pi by mans of Reaper (which already is available for this platform). See the discussion here -> https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2209346#post2209346

With such, we might be able to see versatile self-contained devices (e.g. Wind Controllers) that natively create these sounds .

-Michael

The much-awaited video tutorial of The Trumpet is now available:

http://www.sample-modeling.com/public_download/Tutorial_Video.zip (free download ! )

Peter did a wonderful job, showing how to play The Trumpet with a keyboard and an expression pedal.

This tutorial highlights basic techniques for shaping articulations such as staccato, legato, portamento, crescendo, decrescendo, vibrato, shakes, "dirty flutter", frullato.

More advanced articulations and phrases (split portamentos, falls, trills, runs), use of controllers, first and second level keyswitches, wah-wah & mutes, are also highlighted and discussed in detail.

We expect this tutorial to be very helpful to beginners, experienced users, and future customers of The Trumpet.

Enjoy !
